Connecting Samsung E700 to PC and
Transferring Files Walkthrough
First you need an
Infra-red Cable and
SGH-E700 EasyStudio
software
Make sure you have
installed your Infrared datacable correctly, you can get the drivers for
the MA620 featured from
here
Step1.
Connect your Infrared cable
to your PC. Activate the Infrared on your e700. You can activate
it by going to "Phone Settings" and scroll down to #8 "Infrared
Activation" select it and turn it on.
Now position your phone and
cable just like below, so the cable is pointing at your infra-red port
on your phone.

Step2.
Now launch
SGH-E700 EasyStudio and You should notice that your E700 has been
detected at the bottom of the window. If this has been detected
ok, your phonebook will load into the phone. Once loaded, select
the "File Manager" icon and continue to Step3.

If your E700 has not
been detected. Go to the File tab, and select setup, and make sure
the settings look like this below. If they do and your phone was
not selected, try swapping the port to com1. Then select OK,
then open the settings again and make them just like below. This
will cause the computer to look for your infra red cable again.
And it will detect the phone.

Step3.
Once you are in File
Manager there are 5 steps to uploading new ringtones to your E700
Fig 1. Select
the "My sounds Folder"
Fig 2. Select the
folder where the ringtones you wish to upload are situated on your PC.
In this case we are using our Polyphonic CD
Fig 3. Once
you are in the folder you now need to select a ringtone that you wish to
upload to your phone
Fig4. You can
play the ringtone first before you upload it. However we have
noticed that this player makes the ringtones sound terrible, and not as
they will sound on your E700 (Don't ask us why it does this we don't
know).
Fig 5. Press
the Upload Button to transfer the ringtone to your E700

Step 4. (Optional)
If the ringtone file size
is too large download, unzip and launch PSM
player (you may need
winzip) and follow the following 5 steps to reduce it's size before
uploading it to your phone.
1. Open the
Ringtone File
2. Press the scissor
icon
3. This is a
cropping tool where you set the size of the ringtone set the maximum
size to 200. This will cut the end of the ringtone away making it
much shorter. Your phone will never really ring this long anyway,
so nothing lost really.
4. (Optional)
You can also cut away part of the beginning of the ringtone. This
is handy if your desired ringtone has a small quiet intro or you want to
set the beginning of your ringtone to the chorus etc.... play with this
a bit to get it right. It wont save the ringtone until you select
Fig5
5. save your cropped
ringtone to your computer ready for uploading
Tip:
Also, if you press the + and - icons you can alter the volume of the
ringtone. Don't go above 200% as some ringtones will start to
distort.
